Walk the Wight
“Love is not patronizing and charity isn’t about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same — with charity you give love, so don’t just give money but reach out your hand aswell.”
- Mother Theresa
We are extremely fortunate to have the unwavering support from many businesses, organisations and individuals. It’s very hard to single anyone out, everybody’s contribution is important, but we'd like to give particular mention to Ron Bowler and Jewson, for support with sponsorship, signage, storage, deliveries and so much more; The Needles Landmark Attraction, who provide us with sponsorship and the most spectacular vista with which to finish the walk; Red Funnel for their sponsorship of the walker numbers and, along with Hovertravel, for getting our walkers across the water; Southern Vectis for getting them across the Island and Island Roads for keeping them safe. The IW County Press for their sponsorship of the medals and support as a media partner, alongside IW Radio who have covered the event from January to May with interviews, adverts and, on the day of the event, coverage across their shows, including a live broadcast from the Needles finish.
Of course, an event of this scale just doesn’t happen without help from an army of volunteers, and we receive massive support from the Island’s Rotary and Lions clubs, who in 2015 were joined by members of the Round Table, Island Freemasons, Ventnor Rugby Club, GKN Systems and the Events Co to make up our team of over 300 marshals and event staff.
And not forgetting, our faithful Walk the Wight committee who help steer the ship from September through to May, giving us their time, knowledge and expertise.
THANK YOU to everyone who supports Walk the Wight!
