Walk the Wight

Karen Spiers

When Karen’s dad passed away in 2008 she decided to volunteer at the hospice so she could ‘give a little back’. 7 years later and she is still giving us a lot more then that. For Walk the Wight in particular, Karen (center) has given us so much of her time and support; being a dedicated committee member, becoming the super organised Flat Walk manager, recruiting individual volunteers and volunteer groups to help fill marshal positions, and for organising and selling so much merchandise that the Flat Walk start sold more sunflowers than anywhere else on the walk.  We were chuffed to honour Karen with the Mike Wray Volunteer award at the Walk the Wight Awards in recognition of her commitment to the work of the hospice.
