Walk the Wight

The Llama Walk

Place your Bid!

This is it folks, the page where you can place your bids in our silent auction to WIN the opportunity to Walk the Wight with a llama or alpaca as your companion!

Bidding opens at 9am on Friday 11th March and closes at 11:59pm on Monday 2nd May.

All 6 winners will be announced live on IW Radio on Tuesday 3rd May during the breakfast show.

You have to be 18 or over and registered to Walk the Wight to bid. Winning bidders may 'gift' their llama walk to up to four people aged 16 or over, by prior arrangement.

You may bid multiple times, but each new bid must be higher than the previous bid to be valid. Your new, valid bid will cancel your previous bid.

By making a bid you acknowledge your acceptance of the terms and conditions, so please read these before you bid.

Terms and Conditions - please read

  • The opportunity to take part in the Llama Walk is available to participants of the 2nd half of the main walk ONLY.

  • Participants of the llama walk must be available to meet the llama’s/alpaca's and attend a safety briefing on SUNDAY 8th MAY at 10am at WEST WIGHT ALPACAS Main Road, Wellow, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Special arrangements can be made for winning participants who do not live on the Isle of Wight. Please contact Jax Jones on 01983 528989 for more information.

  • For health and safety reasons you cannot bid for a specific llama or alpaca, one will be allocated to you. Winners will either be paired with one llama for the whole walk or the two alpacas, who will tag team the distance.

  • You must be registered for Walk the Wight to place a bid. Bids can only be made via this page and by persons aged 18 or over.

  • The 6 highest bidders will each win the opportunity to walk a llama or alpaca from the Carisbrooke start to the finish at the Needles Landmark Attraction (14 miles).

  • To take part in the Llama walk you agree to walk with your designated llama or alpaca in convoy with other llama’s/alpaca’s, participants and professional guides/handlers from West Wight Alpacas. You also consent to walking at a slow, steady pace for the duration of the walk and taking rest stops/comfort breaks as directed by the professionals of West Wight Alpacas.

  • Bidders may bid more than once. Each new bid must be higher than the previous bid. The new, higher bid cancels the previous bid. Bids that are lower in value than the previous bid are invalid and will be cancelled automatically.

  • Winning bidders may ‘gift’ their Llama Walk to up to 4 people aged 16 or over by prior arrangement with Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

  • Bids can be placed at any time from 9am Friday 11th March to 11:59pm on Monday 2nd May.

  • The success of all bids is at the discretion of Earl Mountbatten Hospice. EMH reserves the right to cancel any bids at any time for any reason.

  • The success of the 6 highest bids is also subject to eligibility checks to ensure participants are suitable to take part in the llama walk. If participants are deemed unsuitable to take part then their bid will be cancelled and the next highest bidder chosen and subject to the same procedures.

  • Winners will be contacted by EMH on Tuesday 2nd May to arrange payment. Payments can be made by card or cash ONLY. Winning bids must be paid for by 3pm on Wednesday 4th May. Failure to meet this deadline will result in automatic cancellation of the bid. In which case, the next highest bidder will become a winning bidder.

  • Successful participants will be required to sign a disclaimer that states they take part entirely at their own risk and exempts EMH and West Wight Alpacas from any liability whatsoever resulting from their participation in the Llama Walk.
